We haven't seen a new Backyard game since Rookie Rush/Sandlot Sluggers (thank gosh), so it seems like the franchise is dead. Unless whoever buys it can properly revive it, though I don't think they'll be able to regain the major sports licenses, especially with how EA has exclusive rights to the NFL.
