Working on the Design...

This forum is boring right now. We need to liven things up a notch. As of now, the only thing that makes it remotely Humongous-looking is the site logo, and some of the avatars. Not good enough for myself. We need to make it look a lot more like you're at a place that feels like a Humongous fan forum. I'm currently open to design suggestions, so let's get the show on the road! Some things I'm open to...

Better smilies
The current smiles have gotta go. They're the kind of cliche and stereotypical default smilies you see on malware ads. Not to mention a lot of them replace common ASCII, which is stupid. We also need to burn the animated ones to the ground, because they're annoying. Plus, chat room users keep spamming animated smilies, and it causes browsers to crash. We need some more smilies that look like HE characters. Try to send in some images you think are suitable as smilies. Who knows, they may end up being there forever!

A good default avatar
Some of you may have noticed the preset avatars. To my knowledge, those are unchangeable, so I took them down altogether. However, you can still change the default avatar for all users who don't have one. Send some suggestions and it may become one.

Better overall look of the forum
Like I said, the design doesn't look like Humongous enough. You may be surprised how much this forum can be changed to look snappy. I know of a forum that looked very similar to this, but it now actually looks like what it dedicates itself to. I know we can do the same with this forum. Pitch in some ideas, and maybe I'll use them.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. I'm not entirely relying on the users, but I do need some good ideas. Please don't be shy - this forum has just begun, and I'm ready for any answers you guys have.

I was thinking of checking out the theme-building function that our host has on their homepage, just to see what it's capable of. I'll make suggestions based on that once I'm through experimenting. I also might hunt for some possible candidates for smilies as well.

Well, just got a few in working order. They're a little big for being smilies, but whatever. Check 'em out!

I added some for the Putt-Putt series. They could come in handy sometime. Oh, and I added Rover and Mr. Firebird due to their slight Ensemble Darkhorse status.

Yeah, it was way less limiting finding Freddi and Luther art in the One-Stop Fun Shops that were varied.
Also, I'll get the Pajama Sam smilies first, and then hunt for some Spy Fox smilies. Spy Fox is very limiting, given he never had a One-Stop Fun Shop.

Well, as you guys can see, I've added a new background along with some icons for the main page. I'll get to work on the other icons ASAP.

Just so you know, the banner image isn't working in Internet Explorer 9 for some reason. It works perfectly fine when I'm on Google Chrome, however.

Finally decided to crack and get back at the design. I decided to change the Online icon, the last post buttons, and I added icons for when a topic is "hot" (I doubt it will ever happen, but it's there just in case).

Just a minor update -- I fixed "MP" to "PM" finally. It actually came out better than I expected.
