HE fangames? Empty HE fangames?

Post by Cyrus7 Mon Jun 11, 2012 11:29 am

Does anyone here know about (or work on) any HE fangames? I know lots of people who loved those adventures (particularly Spy Fox), but I've never heard about any fanprojects.

Welcome to the forums!
Our own WindowsTV has worked on several, though he hasn't yet had any final releases as of yet. I also have the idea for a "de-make" of Spy Fox 1 in mind which uses the 9-verb interface like in Monkey Island, but I'm not skilled in AGS at this time.

I've heard of something called Freddi Fish 6: The Case of the Missing Mermaid, but it seems to be just a fan concept, not an actual fangame.

A project for a Humongous fangame?! Maybe you could do some work on it. Could you please send me the link to the concept?

Well, it doesn't seem like it was planned to actually be made (and I wouldn't be interested in working on it anyway), but here's some stuff I found about it:

Interesting! Where can I read about them?

That sounds like an awesome idea! I think you may start a topic on the AGS forums.

Just thought I'd put out that I know how to program in AGS. Have we got any artists here?

I think the Nintendo DS cover of the Case of the Missing Mermaid has to be the most colourful!

I'm not artist of any sort, but I could help with the script (yes, it's a remake, but I think it would need some new scenes and puzzles). I believe the best variant for art would be DOTT or Sam & Max HTR style.

I think it would need at least need new dialog for the new possible interactions. (e.g. *look at rabbit* Spy Fox: That shifty-looking rabbit sells trinkets. I think I should trust him as far as I can throw him. And that's NOT very far.)

It all depends on the scale. Plunder island, for instance, is much smaller than the USA.

And at the same time, it would be boring if you had to walk between all those spots. Besides, the maps in Monkey Island games are tradition...

So it must be the smallest place in the world, like the Pontipines' house from in the Night Garden!

I was going to wait until this was finished, but what the heck. I'm an okay artist. Here's a mock-up I did of Spy Fox (From the waist, up) Feel free to give any comments/criticism

Rather looks like it could work... could just maybe use some shading...

I prefer it without shading to make it look like a NES game.

But we're targeting a VGA lucasarts game I believe. Like Monkey Island 2 or Day of the Tentacle.
