New review series I have begun

You might or might not remember my Backyard Sports series of reviews and my quickie LEGO Island review series. I feel the former series really didn't get a whole lot of attention, so I thought I'd try something more ambitious. I'm going to review every Humongous game featuring the "big five" -- Putt-Putt, Fatty Bear, Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam, and Spy Fox. Not just the adventures though, I'm also taking on the spinoffs they were a part of too (with the exception of Pajama Sam's Games to Play on Any Day, since I've never played it and probably won't since it's so rare). As you can see, this will take quite a long time to do. If I can do the Backyard Sports reviews though, anything is possible.

As of this posting, three reviews are already done, with Putt-Putt & Fatty Bear's Activity Pack currently being approved. I will post updates on this one as well if you want to follow me here instead of on MobyGames and want to provide more discussion.

Enjoyed reading these, thanks a lot. Keep up the good work. I actually never knew that Putt-Putt Parade was released before Fatty Bear, or that Ron Gilbert was involved with the beginnings of Humongous.

These have been great so far. The HE games (and LEGO Island, for that matter) don't really have established consensuses, so it's nice to see someone chronicling some well-reasoned evaluations of them. Keep it up!

I read a few of your review articles, and I must say, well done! Keep up the great work!

Also, in your review of "Putt-Putt and Fatty Bear's Activity Pack," I must say, I like the "Circus Stormin'" minigame because I like the way it's a similar vein to the "Bear Stormin'" minigame in Putt-Putt Goes to the Moon, although "Putt-Putt's Fan Pack" (which is the first game to feature the "Circus Stormin'" minigame) came out in the same year as the second Putt-Putt Junior Adventure. I bet "Circus Stormin'" is the codename for "Bear Stormin'," and it's also a beta version.

Why did these reviews get removed?

I was surprised by this as well. His Backyard Soccer reviews are also gone. No idea why he deleted all that stuff, considering there really wasn't much in it that he could potentially feel ashamed of.

I wouldn't expect him to answer, though, given that he no longer visits this forum.

Seems most of his deleted reviews have been archived. Looking at them, the four deleted Backyard Sports reviews were pretty negative, so maybe he thought he was being too harsh on them?

That doesn't explain the complete deletion of his reviews of the Junior Adventures and their spin-offs, though. The only guess I have is that MobyGames deleted them for not complying with their review structure.

I want to see them.

Looking at a non-HE review, he has a really positive opinion on Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing. That's odd...

Thanks for the Internet Archive Wayback Machine link! The only reviews that haven't been archived are the Putt-Putt and Fatty Bear's Activity Pack review, the Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise review and the Putt-Putt and Pep's Dog on a Stick review.
Still can't figure out why those reviews were removed... If he decided to stop making reviews, he could've just stopped without deleting anything or posted a notice somewhere saying he decided to stop the review series.
