Backyard Football glitched up?

Has anyone ever played this game and realized that they couldn't tackle a player or how you got one before the ball broke the goal line and it was called a touchdown? I'm guessing the game was a little bit rushed. Anyone agree?

Funny, Football was the first sports title Scummvm properly supported. Supposedly. Soccer was apparently the trickiest. In older versions of scummvm it was just a bit unplayable. Turns out almost all the logic was actually coded in C++! (So I hear)
