Pajama Sam 3: the signifigance of WTO=s
Seasoned ini setting vets will no doubt remember the bizzare setting "WTO=s" in Pajama Sam 3 which puts the marching Sweet Troops in riot gear. For a long tme the signifigance of this easter egg was unknown. However, I happened to be paging through my American History textbook, and found somethng I think will help us figure this out.
This actually might have something political to it. I found that WTO stands for World Trade Organization, which was esablished in 1995 to negotiate trade agreements and solve trade disputes. This group became contraversial because it was thought they would favor big business over workers and the environment.
Here's where it gets interesting. Acccording to my textbook, at a WTO meeting in Seattle during 1999, protestors attacked the growing influence of giant corporations, calling for greater attention to the welfare of workers, poorer nations, an the global environment.
Seeing as how Pajama Sam 3 has political undertones unrelated to the game's more obvious message of eating right, my personal theory is that someone politically-minded at Humongous, a company that was situated quie close to Seattle, slipped this in as a small protest against his or her opposing views. Seeing as how Pajama Sam 3 could have easily been in developent at the time of the conference in Seattle, they might have slipped this in during the stuff going on.
If anyone else has other comments or theories, feel free to post.

Both Pajama Sam 1 and WTO were released in 1995! (or at least work began on them)
