Random bits of trivia Empty Random bits of trivia

2 brief things I felt weren't important enough to warrant their own post.

1. I just bought iOS PJSam 2 and it DOES have lip-sync (that should make Legoking happy).

2. In the English dub of Studio Ghibli film Kiki's Delivery Service, Pamela Segall voices a character with the exact same voice as Sam! Not really trivia, but interesting nonetheless.

Well, while we're on the topic of "Hey, It's That Voice!", Penelope from Sly 3 is voiced by Annette Toutonghi - As far as I know, that's her only voicework outside of Freddi Fish. Her voice is unmistakable. As soon as I heard her first line I knew it was Freddi.

And speaking of Sly Cooper, Bentley's voice sounds identical to Professor Quack. But it is NOT the same VA, despite common misconception. That just makes it even stranger, though, because throughout the first game I couldn't get over how much he reminded me of Quack....

The guy who voices professor Quack in German also voices Flux in the German version of Toonstruck. (Yawn.) I can't ever think of Quack without thinking of Flux now!

The guy who voices Fatty Bear also is the voice of BOWSER, of all characters.

The voice of Luther happens to be the current voice actor for Slippy Toad in the Star Fox series. "Hey Freddi! Watch me swim a BARREL ROLL!"

Fatty Bear's VA also voiced Mr. Fenderbender, Eddie the Eel, Mr. Udderly, Walter Wireless, the rustler guard, and can do an AWESOME Don Knotts impression.

David Gasman, one of the recurring actors in the British dubs, is the voice of Rayman. He's also apparently English/French bilingual.

John Patrick Lowrie, the voice of William the Kid, plays the Sniper in Team Fortress 2. He's also married to GLaDOS from Valve's Portal series.

The voice of Johnny Gecko also voices Barney from the Half-Life series.

Sunny Day/Maria Luna's VA voices Princess Peach and Zoey from Left 4 Dead. This is why I always use the baseball bat in that game. :P
Actually, a lot of people who have done voices in Humongous games have acted in Valve games. Must be because they both are in the Seattle area.

Dex Manley, VA for Mr. BigPig and Barry DeJay, has done tons of voices in the Mario games, including Lubba from SMG2.

Jason Ellefson, Putt-Putt's original VA is now a... erm, never mind.

*cough* Pornstar. *cough*

Also, from the French dubs, Roger Carel is the voice of Luther, and also the French voice of Maestro, (From Il etait une fois) Asterix, C-3PO, Alf, Winnie the Pooh, Benny Hill, Woody Woodpecker, Kermit the Frog, Mickey Mouse, Flintheart Glomgold, (Ducktales) Rintindum/Rentanplan (Lucky Luke) and Rincewind! He sure gets around!

Jackie Berger is the voice of both Putt-Putt and Pajama Sam, but is not in much else. There's Jerry in the horrible Tom and Jerry movie, and uhh... was Krillin and Gohan in a few episodes of Dragon Ball? Yeah, I got nothing here. But both Pajama Sam AND Putt-Putt!

HOW COME you're so clever?!

I think Noddy did the voice of Putt-Putt in the British dubs, as well as (possible voice pointout) Master Tubby Bear doing the voice of Eddie the Eel in Freddi Fish 1???

I thought Freddi Fish 1 only came out on the Wii, and with American voices. (In the UK.)

One thing I found interesting was that Dex Manley was the only one from Humongous's old pool of voice actors (they reused many of the same VAs in their 90s games) to return in the post-2001 games (which also reuse many of the same VAs, though the cast is almost completely different). He is listed in the credits of Pep's Birthday Surprise and several Backyard Sports games (although a woman replaced him as the voice of Pablo Sanchez). I wonder why only he came back.

Some more HITV moments:

Humongous-related:

Our Pajama Sam is Why Bird from the 1989-96 BBC kids' show Playbus! "Why do I have to tell that to the fudge?"

Your Pajama Sam's VA also does the voice of Ashley Spinelli from Recess (1996-2002), Bobby from King of the Hill (1998-2010), Lucky from 101 Dalmations: The Series (1997-2001), Baloo from Jungle Cubs (1997), Lulu from the US dub of Bananas in Pajamas (1993-2001), additional voices from Rugrats (1992-2005), and can do a great Ash Ketchum impression!

Jim Cummings, the voice of Pete from Goof Troop (1992), can be heard in at least one of Putt-Putt's games! And both Goof Troop and Putt-Putt Joins the Parade were released in 1992!

SPY Fox's 1999 voice sounds identical to the Brickster's (LI1 incarnation, that is)! However, it is NOT the same voice actor!

The voice of Eddie the Eel in the German dub of Kelp Seeds also played Hitler from Downfall (2005)! "GO AND GET ME LUTHER!!! LUTHER!!! LUTHER!!! LUTHER!!!"

With respects to Luther having the same VA in France as Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh, Spongebob Squarepants (1998-), Barney the Dinosaur (yuck) (1991-), Dipsy from Teletubbies (double yuck) (1996-2000), Beavis and Butthead (OMG) (1992-7), Sonic the Hedgehog in his AOSTH incarnation (double OMG) (1992-4), Mr. Wobbly Man from Noddy's Toyland Adventures (1992-2001), Uncle Bulgaria from the Wombles (1972-94), Ed the Hyena from the Lion King (1993), Elvis Cridlington from the 2002 reboot of Fireman Sam, Grampa from Rugrats (1992-2005), Jake from Tweenies (1998-2003), Rat in a Hat from Bananas in Pajamas (1993-2001), Blinky Bill (1992-2001), Sam-I-Am from the Living Books adaptation of Green Eggs and Ham (1996), Cryton from Red Dwarf (1987-), Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as a teenager in the 1999 film of the same name, Pepper from LEGO Island (1997), Mr. Nosy from Mr. Men and Little Miss (1994-8), Papa Bear from the Berenstain Bears (1985-90), Lofty from Bob the Builder (1999-), Oakie Doke (1994-7), Mrs. Turtle from House of Mouse (1998-2004), Kaa the Snake from Jungle Cubs (1997), Annabelle from Annabelle's Wish (1999), Phineas from Phineas and Ferb (2006-), Spyro the Dragon (1997-), Dr. Scratchnsniff from Animaniacs (1992-8), Plucky Duck from Tiny Toon Adventures (1990-6), Naughty Nick from Letterland (1996-9), Cartman from South Park (1996-), Megaman (1993-6), Bugs Bunny (1990s incarnations), Arthur (1996-), Olly the Octopuss from the Wiggles (1990-2001?), and even Zippy from Rainbow (1971-93) were all voiced by the same VA as Luther! But I can't play the Lion King on my SNES without thinking of Teletubbies anymore, nor can I read Mr. Men books without thinking of the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog! BUT BOTH SONIC THE HEDGEHOG AND ED THE HYENA, AND BOTH SPONGEBOB AND LOFTY!!!

Before moving to Nintendo to voice King Dad in 2003, Scott Burns appeared in Microsoft commercials! No wonder he hates Mario so much! Mario's a Mac, and Bowser's a PC!

As for Jason Ellefson, I think he now works as an adult novel writer...?

Non-Humongous related:

The voice of Annabelle in Annabelle's Wish (1999) also is the voice of Lil from Rugrats. AND USES THE SAME VOICE AS LIL!!!

Blitzen, Rudolph's dad is voiced by Gary Chalk, but isn't in much else... there's Gutsman from the Megaman cartoon (1993-6), and Grounder from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (1992-4), and was Donkey Kong from Captain N the Game Master (1988-92), and uhh... was Mr. Plod from Noddy's Toyland Adventures (1992-2001)? Yeah, I got nothing here. At least he voiced a father, anyway!

Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario is the voice of Sam the Lion from the Reader Rabbit series (1985-2002) and the Cat in the Hat from the Living Books adaptation of the same name (1997).

In Italy, Tinky Winky from Teletubbies (1996-2000) is Stewie from Family Guy (1998-)!

Frank Welker is GREAT at making animal noises! He can even do Flit's grunts from Pocahontas (1994)!

Rowan Atkinson, the voice of Zazu in the Lion King (1993) is Mr. Bean! Yes, Britain, that's Mr. Bean's voice when Zazu tells Scar not to play with his food!

David Holt not only voiced all the characters in Oakie Doke (1994-7), but also all the male ones in LEGO LOCO (1999)!

Jessica Smith, the annoying face of the sun is now... ah, nevermind... she didn't even do any voices in Rugrats (1992-2005)!

Darkness and the masked carrot from Pajama Sam 1 and LeRoach from Spy Fox 2 are voiced by the same person who does Sgt. Johnson from Halo! (Actually a lot of HE VA's were also in the Halo series.)
