New HE games...maybe
A few days ago I sent an email to Nimbus Games asking if they had any plans to make all new games with the HE characters. This was the response I got.
"Hold that thought :).
If the release of these games do well then we will most definitely make new
adventures."
I know this is nowhere near a sure thing at this point, I'm just exited that Nimbus actually seems to care about the HE gang while it seemed Atari just treated them as a way to make a quick buck.

WindowsTV also was saying this, but (no offence to him) is not the most reliable of us. This is getting good though, if we've now got 2 sources on this... oh, now I REALLY hope they put the games on Steam!
Re: New HE games...maybe
If they've got anything in the works, I sure hope that it's at least better than Atari's epic failures. And if the new games are in HD, even more awesome!
And while it would be cool if they released some games on Steam, I think they should really contact GOG.com about re-releasing some if not all of the original games on there, especially the more hard-to-find ones. Wouldn't it be awesome to get a digital copy of Fatty Bear or the Activity Pack, and know that you'd be giving your money to the people who care rather than a stranger on eBay? Plus, GOG=No DRM! Heck, unlike most other older games they wouldn't need to run the game in an emulator like ScummVM since the games are easily playable on most modern systems, and 64-bit computers need only a simple file modification. Then, they should add in DirectX fullscreen support for the games that didn't have it originally, and... whoah, I'm really geeking out here.

I really can't see this happening in the near future. Considering Nimbus already had to pay a big fee to Atari to port the old games, I can't imagine that Atari would let Nimbus do new adventures if Atari doesn't get loads of cash from the licensing, and I don't think Nimbus is rich enough to buy the franchises outright.
(Still praying for a Backyard sports reboot done in the original style...)

Re: New HE games...maybe
It must have been at least somewhat substantial, given that Nimbus told me in an email that it took a lot of effort to secure the license for each individual game from Atari.

Re: New HE games...maybe
Uh-no, when Nimbus acquired the license from Atari Inc they didint have to do much, all they had to do was sign some papers, and mabye pay a small fee ( SMALL) to get the programs out of storage
Re: New HE games...maybe
And btw the next new game is gonna be Ear Wax, it's an over complicated idea of a simple soundboard, with features including tapable drum pads to produce the sounds and various graphics, my option on it....
Re: New HE games...maybe
It might have taken a lot of effort, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was expensive. Could be they just had to jump through a lot of hoops to get the rights.hefan1998 wrote:It must have been at least somewhat substantial, given that Nimbus told me in an email that it took a lot of effort to secure the license for each individual game from Atari.

Re: New HE games...maybe
Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or not so I'll just ask the question here...
Assuming Nimbus are going to go ahead and create new games, what would you like to see in terms of plots, locations, new characters/old returning characters, items, etc?
I just hope that the new games will be like the originals and not like the awful Pajama Sam 4 and Pep's Birthday Surprise.

Re: New HE games...maybe
Just stick to every rule of the original formula and I'll be happy. Oh, and it might help to have voice artists that actually SOUND like the original voices. If Pamela Segal is too expensive, I'd suggest they get Ashleigh Ball. (If you're a brony, you know why I'd suggest that.) Meanwhile, how about they start fresh with Putt-Putt's voice acting and get a new kid to voice him?
Re: New HE games...maybe
i just thought i should say......
one new game is in the works, that i haven't got to test yet CAUSE THERE LAZY!!! (i didint say that ) but its not an Adventure Game :( also another eBook is being worked on
Re: New HE games...maybe
Thanks for the update, WindowsTV. Glad to hear they're working on something at least. They've been pretty quiet on their facebook recently and they haven't sent out a newsletter in a while.
Voice actors are one of my main concerns for new games. Let's hope they do hire sound-alikes if they can't get the originals.

Response
Well, first of all, I'm not sure if the new Junior Adventures will officially be in the works. I assume a different company besides Nimbus and Atari will have a team that is good enough to continue making more of them because, like I said in one of the other topics, we haven't seen a new one being made for ten years. Even though Putt-Putt: Pep's Birthday Surprise was last released (which is kind of a disappointing way to end the series), I hope the new Junior Adventures will have good plots, better and on-topic scripts, better voice acting, sound effects used from the Premiere Edition and Super Single libraries by the Hollywood Edge (aside from the usual Cartoon Trax and Hanna-Barbera libraries), better cutscenes, etc. Just keep in mind that Nimbus is still making HE apps for the future (and for now), but I don't know what the ideas for the new Junior Adventures will be.
Also, I think we need to forgive Atari for continuing to make the Junior Sports instead of the Junior Adventures. We didn't want to see them stop making them, did we?
Re: New HE games...maybe
This is kinda stretching it, but if a new company made a new Junior Adventure, I'd like it to be Telltale Games, they've already proven they can make good licensed adventure games like Sam & Max, Monkey Island and Strongbad. So if anyone can make a new Junior Adventure, it's Telltale Games. It's probably not going to happen, but it would be nice if it did..I assume a different company besides Nimbus and Atari will have a team that is good enough to continue making more of them
