Spy Fox -- The Game Dubbed in Belgium
As some of you may know, the French and bizarrely UK English versions of Humongous' games were recorded at the hilariously named Knockin' Boots Productions in Paris, France. What you probably won't know is that French Spy Fox is not one of those.
As it turns out, the first two Spy Fox games were recorded at Heaven Eleven Sound Productions in De Pint, BELGIUM. (And yes, that is the Dutch part of Belgium, even stranger.) Which probably goes a long way to explain why the voices are so hilarious. Spy Fox is voiced by Alain Louis.
Only the first two were recorded there. The localization of those was produced by Transposia, but I guess they refused to do the 3rd game (and there's also no Dutch version of it) so Infogrammes did the localization themselves, the voices were moved to KBP in Paris like the other Humongous games, and the voices are also all completely different.
There's also many strange similarities between the Dutch and French versions too.I think with Spy Fox, they may have translated the French version from the Dutch version, and I wouldn't be surprised if they shared voices too. Certainly they sound similar. They were both translated from English, they share few similarities. Spy Fox has a similarish voice, SMELLY is the English word SMELLY in both versions of 2, the Y stands for Yuppies in both. Russian Blue is named Persian Blue (meaning is respective languages) in both versions of 1. Still, both recorded in Belgium. Both pretty silly.
Spy Fox terminé!
UPDATE: Turns out at least Pajama Sam 2 and 3 (but not 1) and Putt-Putt Enters the Race (but not the other Putt-Putt game) were recorded in Belgium as well, and that their voice actress (same one!) is Belgian too. It seems that Freddi and Luther are the only HE characters who are actually French!
