online Backyard Football 2002

Post by tj41172 on Fri Aug 17, 2012 9:47 pm

Is anyone up to play Backyard Football 2002 online? Maybe we could start a league or something? If no one knows how I could make a guide I guess.

Football 2002 doesn't have online play, it has LAN, meaning you would play each other on different computers using the same network. Hamachi does make it possible to play online using this, but I have no clue how it works.
The original Football and Baseball 2001 did have online, but the servers are now shut down.

Not bloody likely! Time NEVER rewinds, so don't expect anymore online play!

backyard football 2002 does have online play, direct ip, and if that doesnt work we can just use hamachi to play.

Now if only the rules of American Football were comprehensible! (To non-americans at least)

if i remember correctly it had a tutorial in the game (not that i ever needed it)
i think Chuck Downfield teaches you and you have to go to quick play to use it.

I'm still not American, so I can never understand! I'll stick to kicking a striped ball down a field thank you!

Straight from the help file:
PC users can play network games on a LAN ("Local Area Network"). LAN play means both computers are on the same network, within a single building. To connect to a LAN game, both players click on Network Play from the Clubhouse screen and choose to "Start an auto LAN game." Backyard Football 2002 will automatically look for other computers on the local network and start the game.
The IP option is just to directly tell the game who you want to play it with. Sorry, it's only LAN. But yes, you can use Hamachi to do it. I just need to figure out how it works.

I gave Himachi a try, and I got nothing but problems. It ruined my video drivers, and I had to boot into VGA Mode (Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration didn't even do anything). And on top of this, gosh-dang McAfee caused me even more problems in an update. I eventually managed to get a system restore working, but McAfee hasn't put an end to its troubles yet (before you tell me to stop using McAfee, it's found viruses my old stuff didn't, an it searches better than most other AV software out there, despite its shortcomings). In short, Himachi is a no-go for me. I need to see if there's another VPN client I could use...

It... ruined your video drivers? Safe mode? Mcaffee? This sounds copy pasted from the millions of computer horror stories floating around the web. (It almost always turns out that it was caused by porn. Often... weird porn.)

McAfee isn't the worst out there (just look at Norton!), but I'm too afraid to leave it. And even without McAfee, the computer still wouldn't have booted; I switched to the integrated video and it booted fine. I'll try Tunngle instead and see if it helps anything...

Naw, I only mentioned Mcaffee in the first place because you spent half your previous post talking about it...

Thanks alot, GeorgeQGreg! You hurt legoking's devices by telling him to download Hamichi, which would cause HIS operating system to be stupider than usual!
