Fisher Price Great Adventures!

Post by Pizzaking27 on Thu May 17, 2012 7:39 am

The Fisher Price Great Adventures were games I used to play as a kid, and they were the mid 90's more popular childrens games, which were released in 1996. The games were called Pirates, Wild West, Castle (I had all 3 of which) etc. Now, I have to ask the question: have YOU played them when YOU were a kid?

Funfacts: The Fisher Price Great Adventures caused trouble with the Humongous games by stealing their cuteness and popularity, which may explain why they were more able to spot than Humongous games. (the computer that I used to play on at Molchen Grange had Wild West, for example)
Most, if not all of the sounds in the games were Telephone Quality, like the Humongous games, which they were also trying to cause trouble about!
The games were created with Macromedia Project Skeleton, which was used as the engine for some of the BBC videogames. Sadly, the games cannot be run in ScummVM, since it's not supported... well, yet, anyway!

I remember the castle one once somehow wound up inside of Rescue Heroes Hurricane Havoc at my library... that was weird.

You must've had the same problem as legoking831 did when he wanted Putt-Putt's 1 Stop Fun Shop, but instead got another copy of Saves the Zoo!

On a related note, I had a random Fisher-Price game (not one from the series you mentioned) land with Pajama Sam's Fun Shop. He basically accidentally gave me two games for the price of one. I tossed it though, I saw no use for it.

Let me guess... the Littlest Pet Shop, or the one in Ready for Learning KidsTown? I'm confused!

Nope. I don't remember what it was called, and I hardly looked at it.

Actually, I believe you're talking about Fisher-Price Time to Play Pet Shop, which I believe has nothing to do with the other Fisher-Price games that Pizzaking mentioned.

Does anyone know if it's possible to play these on Windows 7? I found a copy of Great Adventures: Pirates at a thrift store a while back but haven't been able to play it.

I used to have the Castle game but got rid of it years ago. I wish I hadn't...

The last seven or so minutes of this video I made are dedicated specifically to installing Stay Tooned!, but it should be easy for you to get Windows 3.1x up and running in DOSBox via this tutorial. From there, you can run the setup.exe from within 3.1 to install the game.

Try it! The Rescue Heroes games from the same era mostly work fine.

RyanA, I think you posted in the wrong thread.

No, no, no; I'm saying that installing Windows 3.1x in DOSBox, which is what the first 13 minutes of the video I linked to is all about, works as a solution to run Fisher-Price Pirate Ship on Windows 7 (I've tried it, and it runs perfectly fine via this method).
